Vitalis Vasylius - landscape photographer

I am Vitalis Vasylius, born and living in Vilnius, the capital of Lithuania.

In my childhood, I spent much time at my aunt's house in the countryside. Nature and open spaces surrounded me allowing me to witness various natural phenomena. I was curious and eager to explore and discover. I was most fascinated by the starry sky. I also cherished the breathtaking sunsets, which I attempted to immortalize with coloured slide film.

Then came education, the beginning of family life, and career. During this period, photography took a backseat but was not forgotten. In 2011, I embarked on a journey to the Canary Island of La Palma, a dream I had nurtured for some time. What I witnessed and experienced in La Palma changed my life. Lithuania, with its predominantly flat landscape, lacks mountains. While visiting La Palma, I was captivated by its majestic mountain formations, breathtaking terrains, imposing volcanoes,  clouds invertion, and a beutiful  starry sky.

Since then, I have revisited this enigmatic island in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean numerous times to reconnect, witness, and photograph its allure. In addition to La Palma, I have ventured to other destinations sharing a similar spirit - the Azores, Madeira, Chile, the Faroe Islands, the Dolomites, and other places.

My passion for travel has only deepened my love for photography and my aspiration to capture the essence of the places I have visited and share the impression they have had on me. Although challenging at times, I endeavour to encapsulate not only the beauty of a location in my photographs but also the ambience, emotions, and sense of wonder I experienced while there. Through my lens, I invite viewers to a journey to see and feel these moments for themselves.
